Friday’s edition of Sport has an article insisting that Barcelona have not forgotten about Bernardo Silva and will return with a fresh attempt to sign him.
Just like in 2021, the Manchester City player spent the summer being linked with a move to the Camp Nou. It was repeatedly insisted that he was tempted by the idea of a switch to the Blaugrana, and that the Premier League champions would consider his exit for the right amount.
Sport go over that, and the Catalan newspaper insists Manchester City were ‘willing to let him go’ in the last window. Whilst that may be the case, at least earlier on in the market when they had time to replace him, Barca weren’t able to come up with the fee required.
That concrete attempt will be for a future window, and there remains a conviction, at least from Sport, that Bernardo is the man Xavi Hernandez wants to be the icing on the cake for his side.
