Besides all the big losses from Ajax’s squad this summer, they could have sold one more player, as Everton pushed to sign Mohammed Kudus until the end of the transfer window.

It was widely covered by the Dutch media that the Toffees insisted on the signing until deadline day, with the Eredivisie side trying to convince the 22-year-old to stay.

In the final reports regarding Everton’s efforts, it was claimed the Goodison Park club were offering €12m plus bonuses for the signing, and that was turned down by Ajax.

The importance of Kudus’ stay was proved this week, as the striker scored one goal and contributed one assist in the 4-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League.

And as the Dutch media now comments on the player, they point out that Ajax may get a big chunk of money if they decide to sell in the future. The claims are made by former club player Keje Molenaar in a chat with Het Parool.

“I think Kudus is now so far that he will really break through at Ajax,” Molenaar told Het Parool (via Voetbal Primeur).

“He played really well. He will soon be able to bring in only seventy million euros.”

So if Everton are planning a new attempt next year, they better start saving some money.
