On June 4th, El Desmarque suggested West Ham United have tabled a bid for Samu Omorodion, and that the Premier League side have agreed a deal with Atlético Madrid.
A day later, journalist Marcos Durán said West Ham haven’t agreed a deal with the La Liga side, but they have placed a bid worth €29m plus €10m bonuses.
The Italian media are reporting that AS Roma have offered €40m to secure his services. This is relayed in another report from El Desmarque, who then give their own take on this case.
Despite having the need to raise funds, the report says the La Liga side side are ‘dragging their feet’ after Roma made a proposal for the 20-year-old.
Los Rojiblancos believe they can earn more from Omorodion’s sale after a season on loan at Deportivo Alavés where he managed nine goals and an assist from 35 league games. Therefore, the Madrid club have decided to wait for better offers.
It’s to be noted Gianluca di Marzio stated that Roma have made contact to sign the player, and he didn’t mention them tabling any offer.
Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma are scraping around for sales to raise money, so to think they could just put €40m down is unlikely.
They’d probably have to sell Tammy Abraham first, and he hasn’t completed 90 minutes since returning from a cruciate knee injury.
Perhaps this is a tactic to put pressure on West Ham and others.
