West Ham United have no intention of giving up in their pursuit of Fulham’s João Palhinha, according to A Bola.
Marco Silva’s side signed the defensive midfielder from Sporting for around €20m last summer and he starred in his debut season in England, scoring four goals from 40 games and becoming key for Fulham.
A Bola say this convinced West Ham to make an offer of €45m plus €5m bonuses which was rejected by Fulham.
David Moyes’ side are willing to make an ‘extra effort’ to acquire the player’s signature and are set to make an improved offer. It’s said they ‘will raise the offer’ to around €52m in fixed fee plus €5.7m in bonuses for the Portugal international.
A Bola state the Europa Conference League winners will continue working to ‘try to reach an understanding’ with Fulham to secure the 28-year-old’s services.
If Fulham were to accept the Hammers’ new bid of €52m plus bonuses, Sporting would benefit from this as the report states they are entitled to receive 10% of the fee, or more likely the profit, from Palhinha’s future sale.
West Ham would have to convince the midfielder because he insisted last month that he’s happy at Fulham.
