Earlier this month we brought you a report from Ahora Noticias that West Ham were keen on midfielder Charles Aranguiz this summer.

The Chilean midfielder is looking to move on from Bayer Leverkusen and Manuel Pellegrini is a known admirer of his compatriot.

In fact, he tried to take the midfielder with him to the London Stadium last summer, and has gone on record talking about it, but the player turned down the proposal.

Bild cover the Chilean’s future today and say that West Ham are one of the teams who remain keen on him this summer.

According to the newspaper, Aranguiz’s future is uncertain at the Bundesliga club and the Hammers are trying to ‘lure’ him to England as a result.

Bayer Leverkusen don’t want to lose him, though, and are intending to try and tie him down to a new deal when he returns from his holidays.

There is no indication from the paper whether he would be interested in that, or what their plan is should he refuse again. With just a year left on his current deal, they would presumably need to sell to avoid losing him on a free.

Whether he’d be interested in a move to West Ham is questionable. He’s already turned them down once and there’s little difference between this iteration and the one he rejected a year ago.

Having said that, the Hammers are not afraid to splash the cash and force a player’s hand, as they’ve seemingly done with Sebastien Haller, and there’s every chance they could do the same with Aranguiz should it come to it.
