West Ham target Fedor Smolov, who currently plays for Krasnodar, had a very difficult weekend. The Russian striker was unable to score against Anzhi and ended being replaced by Wanderson in the 85th minute.
During the substitution, Smolov was reportedly caught on camera swearing to Krasnodar fans, as the angry faithful booed him for his bad performance.
But the player, who has been repeatedly linked with West Ham, went on to Twitter and said he played the game with a high fever, and demanded more respect.
The conversation between Smolov and the fans continued on Twitter and credible football agent in Russia, Roman Oreschuk, said the 27-year old striker needs to go west where he’ll gain more respect.
Oreschuk wrote on Twitter, as covered by Russian web site Lenta.Ru: ‘Fedor, please do not pay attention to these stupid critics. I have already told you, you need to go to Europe. I think you’ll play better in Europe, believe me.’
The Russian striker has recently said he’ll decide on his future before the World Cup. Having previously suggested he’d want a bigger club than West Ham, amid fanciful Real Madrid claims, Smolov probably needs to get more realistic.
