West Ham United star Edson Álvarez has hailed the team and the direction they’re heading in after their impressive 2-0 win over Arsenal this week.

The Mexican has been speaking to Paramount, relayed by Marca, regarding the win over their London rivals earlier this week.

West Ham ran out 2-0 winners over Arsenal on Thursday, with goals from Tomas Soucek and Konstantinos Mavropanos securing a huge victory for David Moyes and his side.

The win was their fourth in their last five league games and tenth out of 19 games so far this season, moving them up to sixth in the table, ahead of the likes of Manchester United, Brighton and Newcastle and only four points outside of the top four.

It’s a position few would have predicted them being in after a summer that saw them lose their best player in Declan Rice and require something of a rebuild using the funds from that sale.

Álvarez was one of those to arrive as part of that and, like his fellow signings, has made a huge impact in a team that is now shining under Moyes’ leadership once again.

“It is very gratifying to get three points in this type of stadium against these rivals, personally I am happy because we closed the year very well,” he said.

“The team is based a lot on work and people can see it, if one runs we all run and we have players to solve matches and we show that we are strong in fixed practice.

“We know our strengths, our weaknesses and we are working on that, so we are very happy with the position in which we find ourselves.”
