Andriy Yarmolenko had a disappointing campaign with West Ham United, where he started only one league game and made 14 more appearances from the bench during the 2020/21 season.
Lack of regular minutes with the Hammers didn’t stop Andriy Shevchenko from including the winger in the Ukraine squad for Euro 2020.
The 31-year-old has started two matches, against the Netherlands and North Macedonia, and found the back of the net against both of them.
He also registered an assist against the latter as Ukraine went on to win the tie 2-1 on Thursday.
Yarmolenko has a year left on his contract with David Moyes’ side and Calciomercato Web state the player’s ‘future is already decided’.
According to the report, presented as an exclusive, the wideman has ‘decided not to renew his contract’ with West Ham. It’s not clear whether he will look for a move away this summer or leave them as a free agent in 2022.
Having played the European championship at a ‘high level’, he could be presented with an ‘opportunity to be seized’ in the summer window.
Time should tell…
