Even though Portuguese papers have nothing about Everton’s pursuit of Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes today, TVI24 show Mais Transferências features the latest updates on the chase.

Their most recent story starts with their presenter saying the transfer is ‘practically guaranteed’, unless something shows up at the last hour.

Then journalist Nuno Dias brings a little more information. He claims that the basis for the agreement is ‘established’ as Everton’s interest in the player is ‘effective’.

Sporting expect to make €20m plus bonuses with the move, but are unlikely to get that much, since the Toffees are probably paying around €18m plus the add-ons.

Nuno Dias claims he ‘thinks’ the player is indeed on his way out and ‘thinks’ the deal will be done for the numbers mentioned.

That’s all they have to say for now. Even though Mais Transferências continue talking about how important Nunes has been in Sporting’s title winning campaign this season, they point out that the Lions can’t refuse that bid for him.

That information goes along with what Portuguese newspapers have been saying in the past few days. We wonder why the printed outlets are quiet about the move today, although that could just be the calm before the storm.
