West Ham United’s Pablo Fornals continues to be on Sevilla’s transfer agenda, according to a report from Spain.

The Europa League winners showed keen interest in the 27-year-old this summer and there was even talk about the possibility of including him in a deal to help the Hammers sign Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC now state the West Ham player was ‘on the verge of coming’ to the La Liga side but their salary limit and the high fee requested by David Moyes’ side were the reasons the deal didn’t take shape.

The Spain international’s contract expires in 2024 and he’s been restricted to a substitute’s role this season.

Sevilla have seven players with their contracts lasting until the end of this season, and the report states they could stay if they agree to sign extensions by lowering their salary.

This includes Óliver Torres and Érik Lamela, and faced with the possibility of losing the duo, Sevilla sporting director Víctor Orta is keeping an eye on potential free signings for next summer. This is where the West Ham man could fit in.

As it stands, Fornals will be free to negotiate with other clubs from next January and the report states Sevilla are ‘among his preferences’.

The website’s title says Orta ‘would already have a signing agreed for next season’ but there isn’t anything concrete within the report to back it up. They only mention the West Ham man could favour a move to Sevilla.
