Marko Arnautovic potentially leaving West Ham for Shanghai SIPG this month is a big story in the Austrian sport media, where there’s countless articles every day going over the figures.

Just like they did on Monday, Austrian newspaper Die Presse on Tuesday take the biggest claim they can find from England of potential wages, and then tell the story of what’s going on in the background.

This time the figure is €336k a week, yesterday it was €300k. When it gets to this level, what’s €30k here or there?

It’s made very clear that this transfer is ‘about everything other than football, with the beautiful game taking a backseat to lovely, lovely money.

Well, it’s not just cash, Die Presse point out Arnautovic has been offered nice conditions for his family, presumably including his brother, and lots of direct flights (surely by private jet, there’s not other way to travel) back to Vienna.

The situation is ‘controlled by his brother’ and it’s stated that as soon as the first China offer came in, he made an ‘unconditional transfer request’.

Die Presse say it’s no time for moralists, because those involved simply don’t care.
