It seems West Ham United will really need to increase their bid if they want to sign Yuri Alberto from Corinthians.

As reported by the Brazilian media on Monday, the Hammers have made a failed attempt to land the striker.

A new column from Samir Carvalho on UOL now shares a little more information about that. First of all, he says West Ham’s offer was €20m, and that’s a little over the price reported by other Brazilian outlets.

It’s claimed that following Corinthians’ refusal, the Timão set a price of €25m to let the striker go.

There’s one special reason why the Brazilian side are set to be tough in the talks. That’s because they only own 50% of Yuri Alberto’s transfer rights, as 50% of the fee would go to Zenit.

In other words, Corinthians set a price of €12.5m for their share, and it’s highly unlikely that the Russian club would accept a smaller amount.

Previous reports from Brazil claimed West Ham’s offer was for 60%, meaning they’d let Corithians and Zenit keep 20% of a future transfer each. But it seems the Timão are more interested in getting the money right away.
