West Ham United midfielder Lucas Paqueta has become a ‘point of attention’ for the Brazilian national team, with them worried about his availability for the next international break.
That’s according to Gazeta Esportiva, who reports that the midfielder’s injury has caused concern within the set up.
The West Ham midfielder has suffered an ankle injury, which is likely to keep him out of action for the next few weeks.
His injury was confirmed by West Ham boss Graham Potter in his press conference this week, with the club also announcing he’s set for a one-to-two-week absence because of the sprain.
That’s alarm bells ringing in the Brazilian national team, with the midfielder becoming ‘a point of attention’ for manager Dorival Júnior ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina.
They’re scheduled for the 20th and the 25th, and although there is more than a month until those games, they are clearly concerned about the West Ham star.
The Brazilian federation are yet to announce the date of the squad call-up for the qualifiers and there’s every chance they’ll delay to give Paqueta plenty to recover from this latest blow.
