Three days ago, we relayed news from France that Montpellier star Elye Wahi wants to join West Ham United over other clubs.

Foot Mercato state the striker has been left out of the squad to face Lyon on Saturday and this is an indication his departure is imminent.

The 20-year-old was initially attracted to the idea of joining West Ham but didn’t receive encouragement from the London club.

It’s claimed West Ham didn’t offer guarantees to the France U21 international either about their project or by making a firm offer to secure his services.

This isn’t the case with RC Lens, who have ‘shown more guarantees and certainties’ to the player. The report states he’s now keen to join them over the Europa Conference League winners.

Foot Mercato say it’s down to Lens to table the offer requested by Montpellier to get the deal over the line.

West Ham don’t want to give up, according to journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter. He claims they intend to make an offer of around £46m at the start of next week.

Since Montpellier haven’t received an offer from the Hammers or another club so far, the journalist adds the former have decided to start negotiations with Lens for a deal of €27m plus €3m.

Should David Moyes’ side want to sign Wahi, they’ll have to act fast and convince both him and Montpellier.
