With just six measly appearances for ADO Den Haag spread over 117 minutes, Zhang Yuning’s loan from West Brom to the Dutch side hasn’t been a success.

The 22-year-old has mostly been on the bench in recent weeks, last appearing on a professional pitch on January 25th, but that could all come to an end with the China international returning to his home country.

According to Chinese outlet VIPC, who found a picture on Chinese social media platform Weibo, the West Brom striker has been spotted in Beijing on Thursday, sparking speculation he could be on the verge of completing a transfer at Beijing Guoan.

As explained by Dutch outlet Omroeptwest.nl, Zhang Yuning lost the battle for a starting spot to both Erik Falkenurg and Tomas Necid, meaning the bench is all he can hope for these days.

VIPC state the forward is now ‘likely to return’ to China and join Beijing Guoan from West Brom.

ADO Den Haag focused journalist Jim van der Deijl suggests it might simply be a loan for Yuning to get some minutes under his belt.

Back in July 2017, the Baggies spent around £6.5m to bring him from Vitesse in Holland despite him only scoring four goals in 27 appearances.
