Called upon when needed by Walter Mazzarri at Watford, Adlène Guédioura isn’t really a regular fixture for his club, nor is he for his country.

Playing the full 90 minutes against Cameroon last week for Algeria, the last time the 30-year-old had finished an international game was on the 14th of November 2015.

However, his recent call-up has got him wanting more, as he explained in terms relayed by L’Expression in Algeria, and is already looking forward to his country’s next game against Nigeria.

In that game, the player will, if he’s selected, be facing his Watford teammates Odion Ighalo and Isaac Success, and he’s already warned them about it.

He said: “I’ve told them I’m not going to speak to them until next month because they’re now my enemies. I’m joking of course, it’ll be a pleasure to play against them. It’s weird, though, because we’re used to training and playing together.

“It’ll be an important game for us. I’m sure we’ll get a nice welcome from the Nigerian crowd, as well as from Ighalo and Isaac. On the field, they’ll be my friends, nothing else.”

Guédioura has made five appearances in all competition for Watford so far this season, picking up an assist in the 2-1 loss to Chelsea.

Over his 12-year professional career, the French-born Algerian international has accumulated 34 caps for his country, the first of which came in 2010, scoring two goals along the way.
