Watford enjoyed a strong first season under Javi Gracia last year and they’ll be keen to build on it with a busy summer transfer window.

The Hornets have already improved their defence with the capture of Craig Dawson and it appears they are now looking at adding to their forward power.

An attacking midfielder is apparently on their wishlist, with Ovacion Digital reporting that PSV Eindhoven’s Gastón Pereiro is a player they are looking at.

The newspaper reports that the Uruguayan midfielder has caught the attention of several teams in Europe after scoring 11 goals and registering eights assists in 36 games in all competitions last season.

Watford are one of those sides, with the newspaper reporting that AC Milan are the other interested party.

This backs up all the previous claims from England and Italy that the Hornets are indeed after the Uruguayan, with Gazzetta dello Sport going as far as stating they wanted it done ‘in the next few days’.

PSV have made their stance clear on the midfielder. They paid €7m for the midfielder back in 2015 and now they want at least double that before they will even enter negotiations.

That’s very affordable for a Premier League side, so when the green light is given, it shouldn’t take too long to sort out.
