Over the past few weeks, Corriere dello Sport have been fairly adamant that Watford’s Luis Suárez could head to Lazio.

The striker, currently on loan at Real Zaragoza in La Liga2, has become their main target to reinforce the attack at Stadio Olimpico, allowing more depth behind Ciro Immobile and Felipe Caicedo without threatening either of them immediately.

In fact, it got to the point that the Italian newspaper believed an agreement had been found between the Serie A club and Suárez’s agents regarding a future deal, meaning all that was left to do was convinced Watford to sell.

That was always going to be the tricky bit, as the Hornets do see a future for the player at Vicarage Road, meaning they would need to be tempted to think otherwise, you know, with money.

What always struck us as odd was the price tag of €8-10m Corriere dello Sport seemed to think Watford had placed on the 22-year-old.

It felt really low, and it has now changed, perhaps because they’ve realised the Premier League side might not be as easy to please as first thought.

Tuesday’s edition of the outlet explains Watford, should they agree to let the Colombian leave, would look to ‘monetise the sale with €15m’.

That’s still low, but it’s certainly better than the measly €8-10m that was being thrown around not so long ago.

Just a reminder that in Spain, they believe Watford will ask for around €50m.

There’s a big gap between €15m and €50m, so maybe a deal could be struck somewhere in the middle?
