This week, reports claimed Sporting are interested in Watford players Yaser Asprilla and Matheus Martins.

We even covered a story on Monday claiming the Lions would like to sign the Colombian youngster on a loan deal in the January transfer window.

It turns out that as Portuguese newspaper Record today covers the news, they claim signing the Watford duo is actually ‘ruled out’ by Sporting.

The outlet writes that according to their sources, neither Asprilla nor Martins are part of the Lions’ plans for the current market.

Sporting’s interest had been reported by big outlets, so we’ll now see how this information battle will go in the coming weeks.

The Lions are currently on top of the Portuguese league table and are only expected to sign players who can immediately improve Ruben Amorim’s squad.

Both Asprilla and Martins have been playing regularly for Watford in the Championship this season, so it’s very likely that both signings would need an effort from the Lions to convince the Hornets to let them go in the January window.
