Italian side Udinese aren’t exactly having a great season in Serie A, as they currently stand in 14th in the table and now need some improvement to stay far from the battle against relegation.

To talk about their form, Watford sporting director Gianluca Nani was today interviewed by Messaggero Veneto.

Outlet TuttoUdinese brings some bits from it, with the Hornets getting mentioned a couple of times.

First of all, Nani came up in Gino Pozzo’s defence, claiming he’s completely committed to Udinese and will do his best to bring them out of that position.

“He lives it with extreme care and dedication, because Udinese is not only a team for him, but it is his life and that of his family. Anyone who thinks he doesn’t care about it, or favours Watford, is sadly mistaken. He will prove it again, even if he shouldn’t after 30 years in which he has always steered the boat into port,” said Nani.

Nani was also quizzed about some market movements, especially regarding Matheus Martins, who’s currently loaned by Udinese to Watford. He claims that there’s no decision on the Brazilian’s future yet.

“It’s early discussions, and it does not only apply to him. Ebosele is being watched and valued by many clubs, and like him many other Udinese players such as Bijol, Samardzic, Perez, Okoye. I mention these names to remind you that Udinese is a valuable team.”

Udinese bought Martins from Brazilian side Fluminense back in January 2023. Back then, they immediately sent him to Watford on loan, with the agreement running until the end of this season.

Since joining the Hornets, the striker has six goals and three assists in 44 games. He’s been playing regularly for the club this season, but hasn’t scored in the Championship since December.
