Watford are yet to reach an agreement with Barcelona for striker Rey Manaj, but a deal is looking likely to happen.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say the forward’s ‘future lies with Watford’ despite the lack of an agreement.

They report that the Albanian striker was at Watford yesterday ‘visiting the facilities’ and negotiating his contract with the Hornets. He is, though, yet to undergo a medical at Vicarage Road.

That’s because Watford are yet to reach an agreement with Barcelona over his transfer, although that is ‘expected’ to happen today.

Sources close to the negotiations have explained to Mundo that the contacts between the two clubs have ‘intensified’, and a deal is ‘very close’ to being finalised.

The three parties, Watford, Barcelona and Manaj, are ‘destined to understand’ each other, and an agreement will not take long to arrive.

The deal to take Manaj to Vicarage Road will be a one-season loan deal until the end of his current contract in 2023, plus a percentage on a future sale. At no point will Watford be paying a transfer fee.

The striker is ‘looking forward’ to the move and the prospect of fighting for an immediate return to the Premier League next season.
