As Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim spoke on Wednesday to the Brazilian media, he was once again asked about the situation of Andreas Pereira.

The Manchester United player is loaned to the Rio de Janeiro side until June. And despite the buying option of €20m included in the contract, it’s been widely reported that the clubs recently reached an agreement to make the permanent transfer for half that price.

Now with Flamengo taking a little longer to make the purchase official, there had been many doubts about the signing, especially because Andreas hasn’t been doing well at the club recently. And speaking to journalists, Landim explained the scenario.

“Andreas is a Flamengo player until the middle of the year, we have a contract with him and we like the player,” said Landim (via Globo Esporte).

“We’ve already had several conversations with Manchester United. I can only say that Flamengo really likes the player and eventually we will be able to count on him. It’s what we want.”

Besides covering the quotes, Globo Esporte claims to have the information that Landim himself already told Andreas Pereira the agreement with Manchester United ‘will not be undone’.

They’re just said to be working to overcome a sanction from the Central Bank to have the money available for the signing.
