Manchester United star Edinson Cavani is missing the Manchester derby on Saturday, according to claims from Uruguay.

The information is brought by journalist Rodrigo Romano, who following the striker’s absence from the national team, started getting several question on the player’s chances of appearing against Manchester City.

He writes on Twitter that Cavani has a ‘very strong pain in a tendon’, which he felt at the end of the game against Tottenham Hotspur. That’s why the 34-year-old didn’t start against Atalanta, as he’s currently ‘recovering’ from that issue and will not make it to tomorrow’s squad.

The fact that Cavani will not take part in Uruguay’s next few games was officially revealed earlier today by the national team, who when releasing the list, explained that he’s one of the players who are missing the next games for ‘medical reasons’.

The local FA had no further details on his situation, but made it clear that there’s an issue which would take him out for a couple of weeks. So it indeed sounds like Cavani won’t be on the pitch tomorrow for Manchester United, at least that’s what they’re reporting in Uruguay.
