Two days ago, Record reported Benfica’s Henrique Araújo is set to join Watford on a loan deal until the end of this season.

The same newspaper stated on Thursday the deal had been delayed because the Eagles wanted to include a clause stating the forward will feature in 75% of Hornets’ games, but the latter were against this idea.

Record claim Benfica have now withdrawn the clause and closed the agreement with Watford.

He was expected to travel to London the same day, but that has been delayed because of his birthday celebrations. The player turned 21 on Thursday and will make the trip to England today afternoon.

Over at O Jogo, they also state the discussions between Benfica and Slaven Bilić’s side reached a favourable outcome on Thursday.

The two sides and his agent, Jorge Mendes, sorted out the last details and closed the agreement.

Araújo will travel to London today to undergo medical tests with the Championship side and seal a loan move to Vicarage Road.

Benfica, for their part, have refused to include a purchase option in the deal.
