Newcastle United are expected to return for Fabián Ruiz in the summer after failing to take him away from Napoli in the winter market. His contract expires in 2023.

On March 2nd, Corriere dello Sport journalist Antonio Giordano stated the 25-year-old will not sign a new deal and wants to leave the Serie A side after this season. Giordano also explained the Tyneside club ‘like’ the former Real Betis man.

Sport Mediaset now claim the Premier League and La Liga sides are ‘hunting’ for Fabián. From England, it’s stated the Magpies are ‘following’ Luciano Spalletti’s man and they are joined by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atlético Madrid.

Claims made by Sport Mediaset are backed by Calciomercato, who say the Spaniard loves the Italian city and views it as his ‘second home’. His first is still in his homeland, which is why he is looking to return there after this season. The La Liga trio are mentioned again, along with the English club.

Regarding the latter, it’s claimed Howe’s side, who failed to land Fabián in January, are in the picture to sign him in the next window. However, Newcastle are an ‘unpleasant destination’ for the player, who has only ‘Spain in his mind’ for his future.

Meanwhile, AS journalist Mirko Calemme provided an update on Fabián’s future plans.

“Fabian is very popular, especially with the big Spanish clubs who have been monitoring him for a few years. Real Madrid, Barça and Atletico will try again, but the valuation will be at least €60m,” Calemme told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Spazio Napoli.

“In January, Ruiz turned down a lot of money from Newcastle and for the future could consider Spain, which he has always considered as his home.

“At the moment there are no meetings scheduled for the renewal, but Napoli will have to be careful in any case so as not to lose it to zero.”
