Having some time off at the weekend, Manchester United players Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot both went to watch their former clubs feature in the Portuguese league.

Newspaper Record reports the duo’s visit to the stadiums. On Saturday, it was the midfielder who went to the Afonso Henriques stadium to see Sporting’s visit to Vitória Guimarães.

According to the outlet, Bruno Fernandes went to the Lions’ dressing room, leaving a ‘message of confidence’ to motivate the team for the final stretch of the season. It was manager Ruben Amorim who ‘opened the door’ for the player.

Then on Sunday, it was time for Dalot to visit the Estádio do Bessa. There he saw Porto’s away match against Boavista.

It turns out both Manchester United players saw their former clubs win. Sporting beat Vitória Guimarães 3-1, while Porto came out with a 1-0 victory. It’s still the Dragons who are on top of the league table, with 73 points, while the Lions follow them with 67.

Portugal are currently preparing to play a World Cup playoff against Turkey on Thursday. The duo should then have a rest, as the Red Devils only get back into action on the 2nd of April, in a match against Leicester City.
