Following Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Inter Milan on Wednesday night, Reds’ goalkeeper Alisson had a word with the Italian media.

Speaking to Sky Italia, the goalkeeper was asked about the chance had to join the Nerazzurri many years ago, when he was leaving Brazil for European football.

It turns out Alisson confirmed that the possibility was on the table, even though he ended up moving to another Italian side.

“True, I talked to my agent tonight remembering just that,” Alisson told Sky Sport (via FC Inter 1908).

“When I was 17, many years ago. Unfortunately it didn’t happen but the path I took was beautiful, I did well in Rome and I liked it a lot. Today I still cheer for Roma.”

Alisson left Brazilian side Internacional in 2016, heading to AS Roma in an €8m deal. The goalkeeper spent two years in the Italian capital, and his impressive performances caught the attention from Liverpool.

The Reds spent €62.5m on his signing in the summer of 2018, and despite being a high fee for a goalkeeper at the time, we can probably say that it was quite worth it. His 160 appearances for the Anfield side include a Premier League and a Champions League trophy.
