As well as a new striker, there seems to be a need for a new right-back at Manchester United, with Jeremie Frimpong often linked with a move to Old Trafford.

That’s because the Dutchman is seen as an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s system, and his nationality will also likely play a part in the matter.

Well, it appears Bayer Leverkusen are preparing for an exit, as Sport1 journalist Patrick Berger took to Twitter to reveal they have secured the signing of right-back Arthur from América MG, who will arrive in the summer.

Not only that, but the German reporter then added that Frimpong, who has ‘interest from Manchester United’, and/or Timothy Fosu-Mensah, whom the Old Trafford know well, ‘could leave the club’.

Signing Arthur for €7m is a clear sign the Bundesliga side are planning for a future without one of their defenders, and who leaves might depend on the offers put forward.

If Manchester United do want Frimpong, they will have to be convincing, but that’s never been too much of an issue for the Premier League side, who will want to ensure they improve Ten Hag’s squad ahead of the next season.
