Tottenham’s chase for Ricardo Pereira is being covered by the Portuguese press this weekend, after reports from England said Spurs watched the player earlier this week.

This rumour has been around for a couple of months now, and by now, Tottenham should be pretty aware the player isn’t leaving unless they pay his €25m release clause.

Portuguese newspapers A Bola and Record both have articles on it, and they don’t have much to say except from reiterating how important the right-back is for Porto.

After having a good couple of years on loan at French side Nice, Pereira returned to Porto showing some good form, and already won a place in the starting team for the season.

It means that manager Nuno Espírito Santo won’t make it any easy for the player to leave, for Tottenham or anyone else, so there’s no chance Porto will negotiate his price.

€25m is not a lot for a transfer, especially at this stage of the transfer market. But it will obviously depend on how much Tottenham want Pereira.

Tottenham are now expected to move into the market more, trying to make quality additions to their squad over the next couple of weeks.
