When nothing happens in an ongoing saga, there comes a time when you need to spice things up a little bit, and that’s what appears to have happened with Tottenham’s interest in Keita Baldé.

The Senegalese forward has been linked with a move away from Lazio since before the transfer window even began, yet after turning down offers from Milan and West Ham as he favoured a move to Juventus, he’s now stuck at Lazio as the Turin side don’t appear to want to pay more than €15m.

Unfortunately for him, that’s around half of what his current club want to sell him for, which is why it’s no surprise to see the name of a Premier League club being chucked into the mix. And Tottenham will do, especially given it’s now the ‘Spurs Time’ of the transfer window.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Tottenham would be willing to ‘try for him’ this week, even if he isn’t their number one target for the role.

The Italian newspaper offer no hint as to who that top priority might be, but we find it very convenient for this to reappear now, so close to the end of the transfer window, when the last time Spurs were mentioned next to Keita was back in mid-June when the player’s agent was ‘unaware’ of a reported €30m bid for his client.

It might very well happen, but the way this whole thing has played out, it seems unlikely.
