Earlier in the season, we covered claims from the Italian media that Tottenham Hotspur had sent emissaries to follow Genoa star Albert Guðmundsson.

The attacking midfielder has been one of the standout players for the Serie A side this season, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists from 23 games.

Guðmundsson’s performances have caught the attention of other clubs and Tottenham are still keeping tabs on him.

That’s at least what Calciomercato are reporting, and they add the Premier League sides are ‘insistently following’ the 26-year-old, with ‘Tottenham above all’.

Fiorentina showed keen interest in the Iceland international in the winter market, but their Serie A counterpart refused to sanction a move. The report says La Viola had offered €22m plus bonuses, but this wasn’t enough to convince Genoa, who demanded €30m.

Genoa’s decision not to sell their star could pay off because of the interested parties, namely Tottenham. The Italian club remain confident they’ll receive offers in the region of €30m for the attacking midfielder in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s side have signed Radu Drăgușin from Genoa and let Djed Spence join them on loan in the winter market. The two clubs seem to have a good relationship and this could help in a potential deal for Guðmundsson.
