Tottenham ‘studying profile’ before offer – Waiting, always waiting, at least can’t be cheekiest

 

Arsenal are the Premier League club most linked with Jean-Michel Seri, and whilst that remains the case, Tottenham pop up every now and again too.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are mentioned once again on Wednesday by L’Equipe, the French newspaper crediting Tottenham with interest.

Spurs, explain the French newspaper, are ‘studying his profile’. Now, one may expect that ‘studying his profile’ would be something a club does in March, April, May, hey, even June, but towards the end of July?

Even if signing Seri depends on an exit, it may be expected the club would be past the studying stage.

As Tottenham wait, which is increasingly becoming a Tottenhamism, Swansea City have taken over an old Tottenhamism and offered a ridiculous low price for Seri.

The Nice midfielder, rated the best in Ligue 1 last season by L’Equipe, has an agreement he can leave for €40m, and Swansea City put forward €17m. This gives Spurs the chance to walk in like big spenders, offer double what Swansea did, and still be under the asking price.

Or, alternatively, carry on studying.
