On October 25th, Mexico’s El Universal explained that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Club América star Sebastián Cáceres in January. It was also stated the north London club are preparing to make an offer to secure his services.

Mexican transfer expert Fernando Esquivel took to X, formerly Twitter, to state that Spurs have started negotiations over a potential deal for the 24-year-old.

He claims Tottenham would have ‘sent a formal offer’ to Club América and further adds that they want to sign the defender on a permanent transfer in the winter market.

The Uruguay international has a contract until December 2024 and the journalist didn’t provide any details of the proposal made by the north London club.

Spurs’ offer seems to have pleased the centre-back as Esquivel claims both he and his agent have given the ‘green light’ for the transfer.

It’s now down to Tottenham to find an agreement with the Mexican side for the operation to take shape in the next window.

According to Esquivel, Club América will analyse the English club’s offer and then respond to them in the ‘coming days’.

The South American has made 11 appearances this season for Club América.
