Since Lucas Moura returned to Europe to join Tottenham Hotspur’s squad for pre-season, there have been little updates about his future, as he stopped speaking to the Brazilian media to feed the rumours about a potential transfer.
But it turns out that journalist Jorge Nicola now features a report about the 30-year-old’s situation in the transfer market. The story claims the player is very likely to stay with Spurs, and brings some interesting details regarding the club’s plan to keep him.
It’s claimed that this summer, Moura had ‘at least three official offers’. One from England, one from Italy and one from Saudi Arabia. According to the story, the latter was the biggest, both for Tottenham and for the player, who’d have the highest salary of his career.
Spurs, however, ‘haven’t even opened talks’ for the sale. It’s said they want to keep him in the squad unless an ‘extremely nice offer’ arrives, and any bid below €20m would be insufficient.
Lucas Moura’s contract with Tottenham expires next year, but since the club have an option to extend it, they’re unlikely to lose him for free. Still, São Paulo are said to be very attentive to the situation, as they hope to bring him back to Brazil as soon as possible.
