Juventus’ interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg continues to get coverage in the Italian media.

Gazzetta dello Sport brings the latest updates as they state the midfielder has convinced Juve sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli from ‘all points of view’.

Højbjerg hasn’t featured regularly at Tottenham this season and has been restricted to 80 minutes from six league games.

It’s explained that the Serie A side have explored the possibility of signing the 28-year-old as a ‘precaution’, in the event Paul Pogba’s suspension is not lifted.

The Denmark international’s salary isn’t an obstacle for the Turin club, due to tax advantages, but Tottenham’s €30m valuation remains a problem.

The newspaper states this isn’t ‘just a question of principle’ from Spurs, because Tottenham would have to buy a new midfielder in the winter market.

Ange Postecoglou has used Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma in midfield, and the manager will have to do without the first-choice duo at the start of next year as they’ll be at AFCON with Senegal and Mali respectively.

Gazzetta say this would force the Premier League side to buy a new midfielder in January, but only if the Dane were to leave. This is another reason why Tottenham, for now, aren’t in favour of sanctioning a loan move for Højbjerg and would want the money to fund a replacement.
