Just last week, we saw the Brazilian media recalling Brighton & Hove Albion’s interest in São Paulo defender Lucas Beraldo.
It was claimed that the Seagulls tried for his signing in the ‘past few months’, and the Tricolor are expecting offers for him in the January transfer window.
It turns out that as São Paulo just gave Beraldo a new contract, there’s more bad news for Brighton regarding that chase, as Trivela shares a story with the latest on him.
Trivela claims that the defender’s new contract includes a €60m release clause, and that already gives an idea of how highly the club rate him.
It’s also said that São Paulo’s intention is to make Beraldo the most expensive centre-back in the history of Brazilian football.
Trivela calculated the inflation since all those big transfers, and found out that the biggest sale was Edmilson, who left for Lyon for something around €21m.
So that’s how much Brighton would need to pay in case they attempt the signing in the coming months, although other competitors should come for this transfer too.
