Following the announcement of Antonio Conte as the new Tottenham manager, the London club have been linked with many players in Italy.

Some of those, perhaps unsurprisingly, have been at Inter, the team he led to the Serie A title last season, especially those heading towards the end of their contracts.

The most recurring name has been that of Marcelo Brozovic, whose deal expires at the end of the season, but there’s also been defender Stefan De Vrij.

The centre-back was a staple of the three at the back put forward by the Italian manager, and with Tottenham potentially needing a new man at the heart of their backline, the Dutchman could go a long way to improving it.

Calciomercato explain that he’s ‘liked in the Premier League, by Tottenham in particular’.

They look at who could succeed him if he were to be sold, as he could be ‘sacrificed on the altar’ in the next summer market, and Inter are reportedly ‘looking for a new defender’ on a free.

However, they might already have their man in Alessandro Bastoni, which would certainly help them avoid them needing to convince the likes of Mathias Ginter and Luis Felipe to sign.

One to keep an eye on, because if De Vrij doesn’t renew, he could become a very strong candidate to reunite with Conte at Tottenham.
