Tottenham ‘have all the numbers’ to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal this summer, with him set to make a decision on his future ‘in the next few weeks’.

That’s according to Cadena SER, who say Spurs could be set to battle Aston Villa for the Spanish centre-back at the end of the season.

The outlet explains that, while most of the Villarreal squad are currently being linked with moves away, the reality is that the only ones that ‘have substance’ are Pau Torres and Giovani Lo Celso.

In terms of the defender, his representatives are currently ‘handling a strong interest’ from a Premier League team fighting to get into Europe next season.

They do not name who that side is specifically, but Tottenham are said to be one of the sides that ‘have all the numbers’ to be the club who could offer him a four or five-year deal that would double the wages he currently earns in Spain.

This offer would go in direct competition with a renewal offer from Villarreal, who want him to sign a long term deal and be the key man in their project for the next decade.

The defender therefore has a decision to make about his future ‘in the next few weeks’ on whether to stay where he is or move.

This is not the first time Tottenham have shown an interest, with him rejecting a move two years ago and openly discussing why he did so.

They’ve recently been brought back into the picture for him and, in Spain at least, they see Tottenham as one of two viable options should he decide to move on.
