Having arrived at Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent in 2022, Ivan Perišić has managed a goal and 13 assists from 49 games.

The Croatia international was a regular at Spurs when Antonio Conte was in charge, and has now been reduced to a substitute role under Ange Postecoglou. He has clocked 159 minutes from five games this season.

Večernji List journalist Tomislav Dasović is not pleased with the 34-year-old’s situation at Tottenham and has urged him to leave the club.

Since joining Spurs, Perišić has scored only once for his country and hasn’t found the back of the net in his last nine international games.

The journalist makes a comparison of the player’s playing time at Spurs and Inter Milan [2021/22 season], and how it has reduced since Conte left the north London club.

The Croatian won several trophies with Bayern Munich and Inter, while Spurs haven’t won silverware since 2008.

Dasović says the attacker is ‘missing minutes, goals and trophies’ at Tottenham, which is why his career has suffered since joining them.

Postecoglou’s side have started this season on a bright note, collecting 10 points from four games.

Despite this, Dasović claims Tottenham are a club on a ‘downward trajectory’ and the situation there is ‘unstable’. The journalist adds Spurs are ‘not a healthy environment’ for Perišić and he urgently needs a new challenge elsewhere.

Dasović seems to be being a little dramatic, and his claims are likely encouraged by excitement the player could return to Croatia in the next window.

In addition to this, there’s no guarantee Perišić’s form for Croatia would improve if he were to leave the Premier League side.
