It’s fair to say that the last six months haven’t been easy for Harry Winks, who was sent on loan to Sampdoria from Tottenham for the season.

However, the midfielder has yet to play for the Serie A side due to an ankle injury that led him to have surgery.

He has since recovered and progressed well, to the point where the Tottenham man could finally ready to make his debut.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say Sampdoria are ‘hoping to have good news’ from the player, with the expectation he could make his debut quickly.

This means he will finally come ‘out of the tunnel after six very troubled months’.

ANSA in Italy also report that the Tottenham midfielder could end up playing his ‘first minute’ with the club, and this is something the manager, Dejan Stankovic, is ‘thinking about’.

This is great news for Tottenham and their player, as the whole point was for him to get time on the pitch, and it appears he will be getting that sooner rather than later.

Sampdoria are due to play Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia on Thursday at 5pm.
