Last Friday, reports coming out of Spain explained Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in Granada’s Domingos Duarte.

It was also stated Nuno Espírito Santo has ‘demanded’ the defender’s signing for the north London club this summer.

AS on Tuesday have a headline saying ‘Tottenham make first offer for Duarte’.

The Portuguese has two years left on his contract with the La Liga side, and that contract includes a €30m release clause. Spurs, however, have only offered €8m for the 26-year-old.

It’s claimed the Spanish club are ‘willing to listen to offers’ and ‘contemplate the option’ to sell the player in the last week of the window. However, they consider the English club’s offer ‘insufficient’ for a ‘prominent’ defender like Duarte.

Granada hope Tottenham will ‘raise their proposal’ for Duarte and and the newspaper states there’s belief the Premier League side will return with an improved bid.

In the event Spurs return with an offer significantly better than €8m and it convinces Granada, Duarte can leave his current employer, leaving them with the problem of finding a replacement late in the window.
