While Morocco were knocked out of the World Cup on Wednesday evening by France, they still have the third place matchup to deal with against Croatia.

That means Sofyan Amrabat has to stay in Qatar for a bit longer, so interested clubs such as Tottenham have to wait before making a move for him.

Spurs have been linked with the Fiorentina star for quite some time now, even coming very close to signing him in the past, but he remained in Italy, where he has excelled under Vincenzo Italiano.

Tottenham and Liverpool have been pushed as the interested parties from England throughout the World Cup, and La Repubblica in Italy on Thursday are in favour of Antonio Conte’s side.

They write that the London side ‘are currently the most interested club’ in the Morocco international, but Fiorentina aren’t interested in selling in January.

The only way they would let him go is if a ‘sensational offer’ was made, with a figure of €50-55m mentioned, and Tottenham are ‘ready to talk’ to the Serie A side to ‘understand the margins of negotiation’.

However, it is also stated that he has a preference for La Liga as his next step, where clubs such as Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are reportedly lurking.
