For a while now, Tottenham have been linked with a move for Ruslan Malinovskyi, currently at Atalanta in Italy.

The Ukrainian player has been a target for a number of clubs over the past month, with Spurs and Marseille the final two in the race.

In fact, it was said that the player, although open to a move to the Ligue 1 side, would prefer to transfer to Tottenham if that option became available to him.

The problem, according to L’Equipe on Tuesday, is that Antonio Conte’s side have now pulled out of the race, leaving Marseille as the sole suitors with just a few days to go in the transfer window.

The newspaper, focusing on how the French club want to end the month with a bang, as they are expected to ‘move very quickly’ for Malinovskyi, whose contract in Bergamo ends in June 2023.

As for Tottenham, ‘their interest is a thing of the past’, as they now have ‘other priorities’, now leaving Marseille in ‘pole position’ to sign the player.
