Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres is Tottenham Hotspur’s ‘new target’ in the transfer market, the Spanish media says.

Fichajes feature a story claiming that as Antonio Conte looks to strengthen Spurs’ squad, he’s focused on adding a defender to help Cristian Romero.

Pau Torres is then said to be seen as an ‘ideal profile’ for Tottenham, especially because he’s expected to leave Villarreal next summer, one year before the end of his contract there.

It’s said that Spurs ‘closely followed’ the defender’s evolution and believe his features are what they need to improve their defence, trusting that he could become one of the most ‘outstanding’ centre-backs in the Premier League.

Fichajes don’t say how much it’d take for Tottenham to sign Torres from Villarreal, though. But with his contract situation, the La Liga side are not in a great position to make big demands for his departure.

The reports also points out that Spurs have other targets in La Liga, as Atletico Madrid players Yannick Carrasco and Jan Oblak are both followed by the London side in view of a summer transfer.
