Tottenham’s deal for Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet will be made official in ‘the next few hours’ after he passed his medical.

That’s according to Sport, who say the club and the player are ‘finalising the paperwork’ prior to making his contract with Tottenham official.

We covered a report earlier today that Tottenham were waiting to finalise a move for the Frenchman, with work permit issues delaying the announcement.

Sport back that up, stating Barcelona and Spurs are completing the final details on the move, and it remains to be seen whether the deal will include a purchase option.

Tottenham have found a ‘market opportunity’ in the defender, who started well at the Camp Nou but saw his performances drop over the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old is keen to ‘regain his confidence’ and get his career back on track and sees Tottenham ‘as an opportunity’ to do so.

The only doubt about the move is whether it will be for just one season or if it ends up going beyond that. That remains to be seen and will be dependent on his performances next season.

First, though, Tottenham and Barcelona need to finalise their deal and are currently working on the last details to do so.
