After two public outings, Rocco Commisso will have hoped his words would have put an end to transfer rumours surrounding Dusan Vlahovic.

The Fiorentina owner made it clear he felt there was a good chance the Serbian would stay in Florence, but when it comes to the transfer market, you can never say never.

And that’s exactly what Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Claudio Laudisa alluded at on Thursday when speaking to Radio Bruno, explaining that only Tottenham could make the American businessman go back on his words.

It would involve the sale of Harry Kane, but if Manchester City, who still want the England international, decide to break their piggy bank for the second time this transfer window, then he believes Vlahovic will head to Spurs.

He said, relayed by Fiorentina.it: “Three months ago, I wrote about Tottenham’s strong interest in Vlahovic, and that remains today. There is now talk of Atlético Madrid and Manchester City because the player now has a European showcase. Commisso’s words yesterday leave room for a way out in case this auction should be unleashed.

“My impression is that Atlético can hardly go beyond the €50m offer already made, while Tottenham can do so with the sale of Kane. Also because the primary objective of Manchester City remains Kane, and if, as it seems, they are ready to spend €175m to buy him, it’s clear that Tottenham will have the resources to take Vlahovic”.

With just under two weeks left in the transfer window, there is still plenty of time for all of this to happen, but with Fiorentina already managing to tie down Nikola Milenkovic for an extra year, they might just manage to get their second Serbian star to sign too.

Time is of the essence, it seems.
