Over the years, if there’s one position José Mourinho likes having around, it’s a solid defensive midfielder.

Nemanja Matić was a good example of that, following him around England, but with the Serbian now firmly in Manchester and ageing, he needs to look elsewhere for his Tottenham side.

The name that has popped up for this year’s transfer window is that of Ibrahim Sangaré, currently at Toulouse, who were relegated to Ligue 2.

He’s one of their more valuable assets, and it’s being reported by French journalist Mohamed Toubache-TER that Spurs ‘absolutely want him’.

He took to Twitter to explain Tottenham have been following the defensive midfielder for ‘quite some time now’, and he could leave ‘for around €15-20m’.

However, as things stand right now, ‘nothing has been acted’.

At that price, and still only 22, Sangaré would make sense for Tottenham, who may have to be clever with their spending in the coming months, depending on how badly the Covid-19 pandemic affected them financially.
