Tottenham Hotspur’s match against Nottingham Forest at the weekend was completely fuelled by the comments of Richarlison, who had been frustrated with Spurs’ season.

Speaking to the Brazilian media, the forward had claimed last week that he didn’t understand why he wasn’t playing much, and showed big unsatisfaction with how things were going at the club.

It turns out that Tottenham put in a good performance against Nottingham Forest, beating the Reds 3-1, with Richarlison having a good game.

After the match, the striker did not speak to his home country’s media, but his teammate Eric Dier did.

Speaking fluent Portuguese thanks to the years he spent at Sporting CP, the defender commented on Richarlison’s situation, and claimed it was all internally sorted by the squad.

“Yes, of course, I think we solved between us. And that is among us,” Dier told ESPN Brasil’s João Castelo-Branco.

“And I think from there, from the moment we solved, we started saying ‘we will not continue to talk about it, or continue to punish him’. It happened, we solved between us and that’s it. Now is time to move on. I think he made a great game today. It’s his quality, he plays with the heart, lives with the heart. And sometimes he has to be able to control it in the best way off the field.”

Tottenham now face Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium next weekend, and that’s their last game before the international break.

Richarlison is called up to play for Brazil in the friendly against Morocco, and will have enough time to cool his head and focus on the end of the season at Tottenham, with Spurs still in the hunt for a place in the Champions League.
