Ahead of Aston Villa’s Premier League clash against Arsenal this weekend, ESPN Brasil is airing an interview with Douglas Luiz.

Their website features the midfielder’s quotes on Unai Emery, and it seems there’s a lot of respect and admiration for the club manager.

Douglas Luiz claimed that the Aston Villa boss breathes the sport, and is always looking for solutions for the team.

“He’s a guy who lives football. That coach who watches an hour and a half of video after the game, explaining what’s wrong and what can be improved,” Douglas Luiz told ESPN Brasil.

The midfielder also claimed that Emery often speaks about Neymar, who he managed at Paris Saint Germain, and says what went wrong with the Brazilian star’s career.

“That’s what sets him apart. He’s worked at big clubs, PSG, Sevilla. Even when I talk to him, he cites Neymar as an example. So he’s a guy who’s come and shown what he really is. A great coach.”

“Everything. He even comments that Neymar is the best player he’s ever coached, but if Neymar could prioritise some things, focus a bit more – he always talks to me about it – he’d be the best player in the world by far. More these little examples…”

Aston Villa and Arsenal play at Villa Park tomorrow, and that’s a game which could bring Emery’s side quite close to the top of the table, given that only four points separate the two clubs.

Douglas Luiz has been a very important player for Unai Emery, having started in all of the club’s matches in the Premier League this season so far.

The Brazilian already has 23 appearances for the Villa Park side this season, with six goals scored and four assists made.
