Having already signed Nemanja Matic, Rennes are trying to add another midfielder to their squad, and could turn to Tottenham.

That’s what Le10 Sport are reporting on Thursday, as the French club look to fill in the gap left by the sale of Lovro Majer to VfL Wolfsburg.

They are also looking at Tiemoué Bakayoko, who is a free agent, but it’s explained they have ‘opened’ the idea of getting the Tottenham midfielder this summer.

Settling in wouldn’t be a problem for Ndombélé, who already knows the league and would also be reunited with Bruno Génésio, who already managed him at Lyon.

‘Talks are underway’ at this moment in time, and they are trying to figure out the best way of getting a deal with Tottenham done.

While Rennes have money, it’s said that it wouldn’t be ‘impossible’ to see the Spurs midfielder arrive on a loan, even if the London club are still hoping for someone to pay money for a player who cost them an initial €65m.

Doing so would help them financially, but we’ll have to see what the Ligue 1 side are prepared to do.
